Man, daughter sit for SLC exam

MYAGDI: A man and his daughter are appearing in the SLC examination in Myagdi district this year. The School Leaving Certificate examination kicked off across the country today.

Dhan Bahadur Chhantyal, 38, of Arman-6 Arukhola, a student of Sishukalyan Secondary School Arman, is sitting for the exam along with his daughter Amrita. According to Khagendra Sapkota, headmaster, Chhantyal is writing his exam in the Mangala Higher Secondary School Babiyachour centre.

According to Sapkota, Chhantyal has secured good marks in the SLC send-up test.

“I knew that we cannot make progress in life without education in the 21st century, as such, I decided to sit for the SLC examination,’’ Chantal said. “My only aim is to pass the SLC exam which i hope will open the door for opportunities in my life,” he added.

According to Uma Kandel, a school teacher, Chhantyal has difficulty in writing with his right hand as he had sustained a bullet injury on his hand during the Maoist insurgency.

“However, he is determined to pass through the iron gate,’’ she added. She further said that Chhantyal’s daughter Amrita is also a good student.

The District Education Officer, Dilnath Puri, said that 2,076 students and some other exempted students are appearing in the examination in the

district.
