Man donates Rs 7 lakh for construction of hospital

One Top Bahadur Mahat, 71, of Phirdibas in Dorphirdi village development committee ward number one donated Rs 7,78,108 in memory of his youngest son for the construction of Seti Ganga Community Hospital today. He gave away the money at the Shree Madhvagawata Mahayagya, which was organised to raise funds for the construction of the hospital.

His youngest son, Nawaraj Mahat, 16, had died in a motorcycle accident at Chitwan last year.

"My son died because there was no hospital in the vicinity. I wish no one would die in the accident," Mahat said. He added he sold his land to arrange the amount. Meanwhile, there was a provision for ferrying the generous donators who would make donations of property or cash worth more than Rs 100,000 from their homes to the yagya venue and back in traditional palanquin as a token of respect for their contribution.
