Jhapa, September 12

A 35-year-old woman was thrashed to death by her lover in Jhapa district.

Police today arrested Punya Chudal, 45, of Damuna at Gauradaha Municipality-6 on the charge of beating up his beloved to death.

Chudal had thrashed his lady love, Sirjana on September 7. The woman had breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital on September 10.

Police had launched a manhunt for Chudal and they have been searching for him ever since.

The woman, with bruises all over her body, was taken to Rangeli Hospital. She was later referred to Koshi Zonal Hospital for treatment as she could not be treated at Rangeli, said Morang Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghanashyam Shrestha.

Staying in a relationship for quite a long time, they had been living at Ratuwamai Municipality-6 for the past one month, informed SP Shrestha.

Police said they have initiated an investigation into the incident by keeping Chudal in police custody.
