Rupandehi, March 31:

Pharmacy supervisor Ram Sharma Poudel at the Lumbini zonal hospital in Butwal of Rupandehi district today operated upon himself and successfully removed a tumour from the surface of one of his testicles.

“The operation was a normal one,” Poudel told people who thronged to see him after the surgery. Poudel operated upon himself at the Health Care Pharmacy in Butwal-13.

Poudel said he had twice undergone operations for the removal of the same tumour. He said he began his career as a health worker after completing the course of Pharmacy Assistant from TU 25 years ago. “This is a courageous act and a rare incident indeed,” orthopaedic surgeon Dr Rajendra Sanjel at the Lumbini zonal hospital said.
