Man who abducted VDC secy arrested

RAUTAHAT, July 11

Police yesterday night arrested Umesh Yadav, office assistant of Banjaraha Village Development Committee, hours later he had abducted the VDC Secretary Prem Shankar Barma and forced him to issue a cheque.

Yadav and his accomplices had accosted Barma from the municipality office while he was heading home yesterday afternoon and abducted him and taken the VDC secretary to his house in Gaur-5.

Yadav and forced Barma to sign a cheque for Rs 359,000.

Police, however, reached Yadav’s house hours later and rescued Barma. Though police had arrested the office assistant’s kin Pramod Yadav, he had managed to escape.

According to SP Sanubabu Thapaliya of District Police Office, Yadav was arrested in Gaur. “We are investigating into the whole incident,” said DSP Thapaliya.

Meanwhile, Banjaraha VDC technical assistant Sanjaya Singh has filed an FIR at the police station against Yadav and his kin stating that the latter issued life threats to him and the VDC secretary Barma.
