Maoist cadres refuse to vacate NCCN buildings

Pokhara, September 1:

Some 200 cadres of CPN-Maoist have been living in four buildings belonging to National Construction Company Nepal (NCCN) in Pokhara, despite Prime Minister and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s direction to return the seized property to their rightful owners.

Shushila Chhetri, a cadre living in one of the buildings, said they would not leave until the party arranged alternatives for them. “Leaving our homes, we have been working for the interest of the party and the people. The party should arrange settlements for us,” she demanded.

However, coordinator of All Nepal Trade Union Federation-Tamuwan State Council, Khagendra Kaphle claimed they had taken the buildings on rent and were paying Rs 12,000 per month to the NCCN.
