Maoist central leaders meet in Kavre, to discuss party manifesto

Kavre, January 5:

The central committee meeting of the CPN (Maoists) started in Phulbari of Kavre district today.

The meeting will focus on issues related to drafting the party manifesto for the constituent assembly (CA) polls and preparation for the polls, a Maoist source said.

All members of central committee, including chairman Prachanda, senior leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai, spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Maoist ministers representing the government, are attending the meeting, which kicked off in Namobuddha Resort in Phulbari VDC this morning.

Stating that the meeting will make important political decisions, chairman Prachanda said that discussion will be held on the issues related to drafting the party’s manifesto for the polls, making detail plans for the polls and publicity for the polls.

“As the meeting is an important one in the present context, it will last for four days,” Prachanda said.

“The central members will present their views today and comment on the chairman’s political report on strategy for the polls and preparation of the party’s manifesto from tomorrow,” the source said.

The meeting will give final touchs to the party manifesto for polls that is drafted by a committee coordinated by senior leader Dr Bhattarai, a member attending the meeting said. “The meeting will focus on seven issues, including establishment of federal republic and the basis for such an establishment,” Maoist central member Agni Sapkota said, adding: “The meeting will also take important decisions on going against anti-election forces.”

The meeting will also discuss on strengthening public relations at the local level, formation of a commission to make public the whereabouts of the disappeared and integration of PLA personnel with the Nepal Army, the source said.
