KATHMANDU, MAY 27

Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has emphasized the need for political consensus to expedite the construction of the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project-one of Nepal's national pride projects.

He made this statement while inaugurating the building of Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality in Gorkha today.

Asserting that the project will proceed under any circumstances, Dahal noted that delays thus far have resulted from confusion surrounding the project's implementation modalities and resource management.

Reflecting on efforts made during his tenure as Prime Minister to advance the Budhigandaki project, he stated, "There has been immense hardship for the people due to the prolonged delay. We continue to make consistent efforts and take necessary initiatives to realize this project."

On the occasion, the former Prime Minister also observed that, following the adoption of the federal governance system, municipal buildings have become increasingly well-equipped, and as such, public services must now become more results-oriented.

He underscored the need for all pro-republican forces to unite in light of ongoing attempts to undermine the federal democratic republic. Chairman Dahal urged the State to prioritize economic development, social justice, and good governance in all its functions.

Meanwhile, speaking at a separate event in Chitwan this afternoon, Dahal reiterated the call for unity among all republican forces to safeguard the republic and the constitution. He also stressed the importance of State-level efforts to curb the outmigration of Nepali youth.
