KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 27

The CPN-Maoist Centre conducted its local level conventions across the country today.

Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the conventions virtually from Kathmandu.

The party's Central Office Secretary Shreeram Dhakal said that processes were initiated for the selection of new leadership after completing the inaugural session in most of the local levels.

According to him, the leadership has been elected unopposed in most of the districts' local levels while some local levels conducted election to choose the new leadership.

Dhakal stated that the leadership in all local levels would be selected by tomorrow.

Processes for the selection of new leadership have been initiated in Kathmandu valley as well.

Maoist leaders attending the conventions in the local levels said that they were elated after witnessing active participation of leaders, cadres and citizens in the party's gatherings. Likewise, leaders of the Maoist Centre also attended the conventions in different districts.

Pampha Bhusal, who took part in different local levels' conventions in Lalitpur, said that a new wave had been seen in favour of the party.

Secretary Dhakal also attended conventions in two local levels in the district of Tanahun while the party's central election commission's Chief Bishnu Pukar Shrestha was present in the convention of Nilkantha Municipality in Dhading district.

Party leader and Minister of Land Reforms, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Shashi Shrestha took part in the party's convention in Madhyapur Thimi.

Finance Minister and Maoist leader Janardan Sharma visited Athbiskot Municipality and Baphikot Rural Municipality in Rukum district to participate in the local-level conventions of the party there and pledged to make the Maoist Centre the single largest party in the election.

The party yesterday held 776 local-level conventions, including 753 local levels, party's liaison coordination committees and special committees.

From the conventions, the Maoist Centre also picked representatives for the party's province conference to be held on December 11.

The Maoist Centre is organising its national conference from December 26 to 28.
