Maoist organisations threaten stir

Ilam, June 7 :

Four organisations affiliated to the CPN (Maoist) — the All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF), Nepal Dalit Liberation Front (NDLF), All Nepal Women’s Association-R (ANWA-R) and Nepal Teachers Organisation (NTO) Ilam — today submitted separate lists of demands to the District Administration Office (DAO).

The ANTUF paper signed by its district coordinator, Gita Ram Rasaili, contains 15 demands, including the reinstatement of labourers expelled ‘illegally,’ nationalisation of the privatised tea factories, making public the whereabouts of the missing workers and proper remuneration for all.

The ANTUF has warned that it would launch an agitation if the demands are not met soon.

The 12 demands of the NDLF include free education to dalit students and making public the status of its central member Ashok Bishwokarma. The front has given a deadline of

July 9 to meet the demands. It also said it would launch a stir if the demands are not met.

The 14-point charter of demands of ANWA-R include making public the whereabouts of its missing central member Samjhana Adhikari and providing reservations for women. The organisation has given the DAO till June 28 to meet the demands.

The demands of the NTO include abolition of teachers’ license.
