KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist secretariat meeting today decided to propose an amendment to the existing party’s statute in order to incorporate collective leadership that the party is preparing to adopt soon.

“We have drafted an amendment to the existing statute for the central committee to approve,” said Giriraj Mani Pokharel, one of the secretariat members, following the meeting.

“Contradictory articles of the statute, while

going for collective leadership, will be changed,” he added.

The secretariat meeting held at chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s Nayabazar based residence this afternoon, however, was ended inconclusively.

According to Pokharel, the meeting would be held on Tuesday as well. He also said that attempts were on to make the consensus on the distribution of portfolios and work division before taking them to the central committee.
