'Maoists' anarchy inviting civil war'

NAWALPARASI: Nepali Congress central member Khum Bahadur Khadka today said the country would surely go to civil war in case the Unified CPN-Maoist continued its unruly behaviour.

In course of a meeting with NC activists in Nawalparasi's Kawasoti today, Khadka said that the country would plunge into civil war as the Maoists were considering NC, who brought them to the political mainstream from the jungles, as their rivals.

He accused the Maoists of unleashing terror among political parties by showing guns. NC would not tolerate such activities, he said. It was meaningless to talk for peace with the Maoists as they only understood violence, he added.

He further said that the Maoists were anti-nationals, who talk about nationality.

"Had the Maoists been patriotic, they would not have divided the country into federal states on the basis of castes," he argued.

He also doubted the Maoists' stance on border issues. The Maoists were talking about borders with India but they remained silent when China claimed that some parts of Mt Everest belonged to them, Khadka reasoned.
