Itahari, June 11:

The police today arrested four Maoists from Narsingh VDC of Sunsari district for carrying arms.

Acting on a tip-of, a police team arrested Ramesh Yadav, Bijay Yadav, Ravindra Yadav and Bidur Yadav. Two country-made pistols, a revolver and 30 bullets were seized from them.

Locals said Maoist area no 5 in-charge Aditya and other Maoist leaders were piling pressure on the police to let the four go scot-free. Till two weeks ago, arrested Ramesh Yadav was a politburo member of the Madhesi Mukti Tigers. DSP Lama said the four were involved in the murder of Prakashpur trader Keshav Karki and several other crimes.
