Maoists on fast-unto-death in jail

Sarlahi, February 13:

Seven Maoists who are in Sarlahi district prison began a fast-unto-death strike from today demanding that they be allowed to surrender before the administration.

Those sitting in the strike are Maoists’ Sarlahi district committee member Abhimanyu Chamar, deputy chief of Hajariya Village Peoples’ Government Ram Autar Sahani, area committee members Jitan Rai and Nageshwor Mandal and cadres Dhanushdhari Rai, Bhagya Narayan Paswan and Raj Kishor Mahato, Chief District Officer of Sarlahi, Bodh Raj Adhikari, said.

Fifteen out of 29 Maoists in the prison had time and again submitted written application for surrender but the administration turned a deaf ear to their demand. Deputy chief of the Maoists’ Sarlahi district peoples’ government, Laxman Sah, also jailed, is also learnt to have written from the jail to Assistant Home Minister Sone Lal Yadav to let him surrender.
