Maoists stage rally to protest arrest of cadre
Pokhara, December 15:
The Kaski district chapter of the CPN-Maoist today staged a demonstration here to protest the arrest of a Maoist cadre, Dilip Bikram Shahi.
The rally started from Prithvi Chowk, did the rounds of the town and converged into a street corner meeting at the Bhimsen Chowk.
Addressing the corner meeting, district Maoist leaders demanded Shahi’s unconditional
release. Among others, Maoist Kaski district joint in-charge, student leaders Madan Ale and Jeevan addressed the gathering.
On Wednesday, police arrested Shahi after he and 100 cadres of the pro-Maoist Young Communist League and members of students’ organisations affiliated to the Maoists attacked some members of the Nepal Students’ Union at the Institute of Forestry Studies.
