Maoists to hold countrywide demo for statute
KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist is organising nationwide demonstrations tomorrow, clamouring for a logical end to the peace process and timely constitution.
According to the Newa State Committee, Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' will address a gathering of around 200,000 at Khula Manch tomorrow. Huge rallies will come out from various corners of the valley at noon, which is sure to throw the valley traffic haywire.
According to the secretary of the Newa State Committee, Narayan Dahal, the rallies will begin from Kalanki, Balaju, Maharajgunj, Chabahil, Tinkune, Thamel, Shorhakhutte, Lainchour, Sundhara and Bhrikuti Mandap and the rally from Bhaktapur will converge at Koteswor.
For the mass meetings the party has sent its leaders to various parts of the country. According to the party headquarters, Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai will address a mass meeting in Gulmi, Narayan Kaji Shrestha in Gorkha, Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' in Makwanpur, CP Gajurel in Morang and Post Bahadur Bogati 'Diwakar' in Rasuwa.
Similarly, Netra Bikram Chand will address the meeting in Chitwan, Barshaman Pun 'Ananta' in Rukum, Dev Gurung in Kaski, Leelamani Pokhrel in Jajarkot, Dinanath Sharma in Nawalparasi, Girirajmani Pokhrel in Parsa, among others.
