Maoists urged to withdraw bandh

Kathmandu, April 11:

The teachers and guardians today appealed to the Maoists to withdraw the strike in private schools from this academic year. The Maoists had called the closing down of all the private schools through out the nation from April 15. They have appealed to the government to ensure a peaceful learning environment and to solve the educational problems. The Guardians’ Association Nepal, Nepal National Teachers’ Council, Nepal Teachers’ Association, Nepal National Teachers’ Union, Nepal Scouts, National Private And Boarding Schools’

Association Nepal, Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal and Nepal Human Rights Organisation jointly appealed to the bandh-callers to withdraw the strike. Their joint meeting was held at the Little Angles’ School today. All the representatives were of the view that schools and students are the zone of peace and it was their fundamental right to acquire education.
