Maoists’ land-grab campaign thrives in Banke

BANKE: Cadres of the All Nepal Landless Union, a sister wing of the UCPN-(Maoist),seized five bighas of land belonging to late Bhulle Maharaj in Puraina today.

The Maoists have erected their flag there.

Central Committee member of the Union Amar Pariyar claimed that they seized the land as a part of their party's campaign.The UCPN-Maoist has decided to seize the the land which is not registered and from those who have more than five bighas.

Pariyar also claimed that they would continue to distribute the land to the landless people. After Bhulle Maharaj passed away, the local landlords had been utilising his land, he said.

"Despite the fact that the landless people dying without food, the government did not address their problems," Pariyar said.

He informed that they had seized more than one hundred bighas of land in Dang,Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur last month alone.

"We will also seize the rented houses in Nepalgunj soon and settle the landless people there," Pariyar said, adding, "As the house owners are living luxurious life with the tenants' money, we will seize such houses."
