Maoists’ warn govt over police posts
Mahendranagar, December 24:
The Kanchanpur Maoists’ district committee has asked for the removal of the district’s re-established police posts by tomorrow.
The committee, in a press statement today, accused the government of re-establishing police posts against the agreements and understanding between it and the Maoists.
The statement, claiming that the Maoist peoples’ government will be dissolved after the formation of an interim government, added that no police posts would be allowed to be re-established until the formation of an interim government.
Six police posts have been reinstated at Chandani, Shreepur Belauri, Krishnapur Gulariya, Jhalari, Bhamhadev and Babathan in the district after the government and Maoists signed the comprehensive national peace treaty. A meeting of the district security committee chaired by CDO Netra Prasad Sharma today has conveyed the Maoists’ warning to the government. Meanwhile, the Bara unit of the CPN (UML), demanding the re-establishment of the police post at Madhuban, submitted a memorandum to the DAO.
