KATHMANDU: Police said they have seized four kilogram of marijuana from Balan Khola area of Tikuliya-8, Saptari district but a gang of smugglers managed to flee on Tuesday evening.

When security personnel deputed from the District Police Office, Saptari, and Dhati Police Post tried to intercept six suspicious persons at Balan Khola area, police said, they opened fired at the former. Two shots fired by the suspected marijuana smugglers, however, missed the target.

In retaliation, when the Nepal Police personnel opened fire, the smugglers fled the site. Police later found four kilogram of marijuana from the site.
