Seventy-five persons of the Dom community in Ekdandabela-5 have been starving for a month. These people used to make items from bamboo, namely Chhiti, Kansutali and

Ratodali, and sell them in Jaleshwor municipality and the vicinity.

Bamboo products are on high demand during Chhath and Samachakewa festivals. Trouble started for the Dom community of Ekdandabela after Dom people of Jaleshwor and Matihani, following a meeting, decided to prevent the former from selling bamboo products in Jaleshwor and surrounding areas. The ban has hit children and senior citizens the hardest.
