BARDIYA: An unidentified group shot dead a person in bed at Gobrepuruwa in Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-3 of Bardiya district in the wee hours today.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Mohan Khatik.

According to Khatik's relative Ramsishan Sonkar, five masked persons took Mohan under control at 1:00 am and shot him on his left chest below the armpit. Sonkar had informed the police about the incident soon after the shooting.

Sonkar was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that critically injured Khatik died while undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Nursing Home.

The assailants also looted Rs 500,000 from Khatik’s house.

Police Inspector Laxman Oli at Mainapokhar-based Area Police Office said that he has got the information about Khatik’s death but whether he died from gunshot or any other cause can be ascertained only after postmortem.
