KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday said that the mastermind behind the murder of Dang businessman Raj Kumar Shrestha has been arrested from Manamaiju of Tarakeshwar Municipality-10 in Kathmandu.

In a statement today, Metropolitan Crime Division said, a special police team deployed from the MCD apprehended Khum Bahadur KC (30) of Tulsipur Sub Metropolitan City-11.

Earlier, KC had masterminded the abduction of Shrestha (53) owner of Butwal Bastralaya and former vice president of Tulsipur Chamber of Commerce, for ransom.

However, Shrestha who was taken to Jhimpe Range Forest at Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality-4 in Salyan district, was brutally murdered and dumped inside a cave in the area, it said in a statement.

Earlier, police had apprehended other persons involved in the crime, however, KC was on the run after the incident.

Shrestha was reported missing on June 9 last month.
