Maternity service shut down at district hospital

Maternity service has been shut down at Sankhuwasabha District Hospital after doctors of a non government organisation, Nick Simone, stayed on leave.
According to the hospital administration, all the doctors of the organisation, who had been providing delivery service at the hospital stayed on leave.
Maternity service was adversely affected after the doctors of the organisation, which had been providing free services stayed on leave.
The service at the hospital was disrupted as doctors providing obstetric services stayed on leave.
At least six expecting mothers were referred to other health facilities from the district hospital in the past five days due to the absence of doctors at the hospital.
Locals have complained that pregnant women were facing complications in deliver ing babies with the closure of caesarean service at the hospital. Dipesh Shrestha at the administration section confirmed that the service was disrupted due to the absence of specialist doctors.
Despite disruption of maternity services for over five days, the hospital has not taken any action aimed at resuming the crucial service.
