Medicine shortage hits Jajarkot Hospital hard
Jajarkot, July 29
Acute shortage of medicines has hit Jajarkot Hospital hard in Jajarkot district of Karnali Province.
According to hospital sources, the hospital has been without medicines for the last three months because the drugs were not supplied on time.
Service-seekers said they were compelled to buy medicines from drug stores outside the hospital even though they had been visiting the pharmacy with doctor’s prescription on a daily basis. The hospital’s acting Chief Dr Aman Krishna Ranjit said the hospital had written a letter to the Ministry of Social Development of Karnali Province for early supply of medicines for patients. He said many types of medicines had yet to reach the hospital.
“The problem occurred as the budget sent by the province could not be spent till the old budget was audited,” he added. Dr Ranjit said the medicines were distributed free of cost in the hospital.
