Medics with expertise sought

DAMAULI, July 16

After receiving machines worth millions of rupees in donation from the Japanese embassy in Kathmandu, Damauli Hospital in Tanahun is now seeking expert doctors to expand its services.

According to District Health Office chief Dr Bibek Kumar Lal, a letter has been sent to the concerned ministry regarding this need.

“We’ve got the machines but as we can’t run them without expert medical hands, we have written to the Ministry of Health to approve the posts of a few doctors with expertise,” said Dr Lal, revealing the plan to acquire at least three doctors in the first phase.

“We are thinking of expanding our services with one pediatrician, gynaecologist and general physician,” said Dr Lal, adding, “As preparations are under way, the hospital will be providing x-ray, ultrasound and lab services by the end of July.”

On Tuesday, Japanese ambassador Masashi Ogawa had handed over ECG machine, USG machine, phototherapy, solar power back-up system, oxygen container among other equipment worth around 10 million rupees to the hospital management committee.
