Melamchi water project's tunnel construction nears completion

CHAUTARA: The digging of a tunnel for the much-awaited Melamchi Water Supply Project has neared the completion phase.

Now, the work of digging just a 4.1-kilometre stretch is left to be done, according to the Melamchi Water Supply Development Board's Deputy Executive Ramakant Duwadi.

Works of boring a tunnel through a 27.5-kilometre section from Ambathan of Helambu, the origin site of the river to Sundarijal of Kathmandu are being undertaken.

The tunnel construction works are going on with the objective of supplying Melamchi water to the Capital denizens by the upcoming Dashain, said Duwadi.
