Micro-enterprises in crisis, says Province 3 CM Poudel

  • Poudel blames lack of market for problems plaguing enterprises

Hetauda, May 3

Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel today said micro-enterprise entrepreneurs were in despair due to growing crisis of market for their products.

Speaking at an orientation organised by Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Committee on Development of Industries and Entrepreneurship and Micro Enterprise Development Model of Province 3 today, Chief Minister Poudel underscored the need for development of enterprises and entrepreneurship to bring back more than 4 million youths who had left the country for foreign employment. He also stressed proper utilization of training meant for entrepreneurs.

“There is a great role of the local level in developing micro-enterprise. Tole development committees are formed in each ward of the local level. Enterprises can be developed only if the tole development committees are mobilised properly. Hence, the local level government and provincial government must take responsibility for development of micro enterprises. The province government is also facing a hard time as the federal government didn’t draft the necessary laws,” said Poudel.

Stating that the province government would celebrate the upcoming year as ‘Industry Year’, he said the government would grant special facility to industries that come up with concrete work plan. Such industries also will be grouped into different categories and tax will be waived, according to him.

Meanwhile, province 3 Internal Affairs and Law Minister Shalikram Jamakattel said the province government should take over the industry sector.
