People from Myagdi district living and working abroad have collected and sent remittance worth over Rs 26 million to their home district in Nepal for social work.

Myagdi Overseas Nepalis Association, an organisation of the people from Myagdi district who are living and working abroad, sent the amount over a period of past two years.

This information was shared in the Fourth General Convention of MONA which started in Beni, the headquarters of Myagdi district, yesterday.

According to MONA president Om Narayan Jugjali, the assistance of over Rs 26 million, including cash and kind, has entered the district through MONA from 2019 till date.

"People from the district who are in 28 countries around the world have contributed the monetary assistance for reconstruction of houses for landslide-hit families and for buying health supplies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the district," he said.

"MONA rescued the people from Myagdi who were facing problems in foreign land and set up an emergency fund.
