Minister for King as interim prez

Kaski, November 25:

Vice-president of the Nepali Congress (Democratic) and Minister for Physical Planning and Works, Gopal Man Shrestha, today said the King should be made interim president for the institutional development of a republic in the country.

Shrestha who arrived here to inaugurate the Kahu Drinking Water Project in Kahu VDC was speaking at a press conference organised by the Press Union (Kaski). The Kahu Adarsha Drinking Water Project completed with a financial assistance from the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Fund Committee was constructed at a cost of Rs. 71,28,551.

“As there might be chances of another coup if the monarchy is overthrown either through referendum or a decision of the first meeting of the constituent assembly, the King should be made interim president for institutional development of a republic,” said Shrestha. He pointed out that at a time when communists are working for the formation of a republican front, the democratic parties would form a separate front.
