KATHMANDU: Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet has urged the Australian government to make arrangements for providing visa to Nepali students going to Australia from Nepal itself.
The Minister said this during a meeting with the Australian Ambassador Peter Budd when the latter paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Forest and Environment on Thursday.
At present Nepali students have to go to New Delhi, India to carry out the process for obtaining Australian visa.
In the meeting, Minister Basnet mentioned about Australia's cooperation in the promotion of community forestry in Nepal for two decades, and expressed hope for the its continuity in the coming days as well.
Ambassador Budd said that the Australian government wished to invest in hydropower, environment and water supply sectors in Nepal.
