A one-year-old child died in a clash between two families that had ensued after a land ownership dispute at Bagahi of Subarna Rural Municipality, of Bara district, today.

The families of local Chanardev Mukhiya and Inardev Mukhiya had a dispute over land ownership on Friday night. Chanardev’s granddaughter Kiran Kumari had suffered a deep cut in her ear during the scuffle. She succumbed to her injury later, said Inspector Arun Kushwaha.

A police team, which reached the site after the incident, had taken the injured child to a nearby health facility for treatment. However, she could not be saved due to excessive bleeding, said police. Police have taken seven members from both families under control. Investigation is under way, said police.
