Minor left in lurch

Phidim, August 1

A ten-year-old minor has been left to fend for himself after his parents died at Sarangdanda-4 of Panchthar.

Bhagishwor Nepali became an orphan after his father Ram Bahadur was murdered in January, 2015 in Malaysia while his mother Hari Maya died during course of treatment in February this year.

Ram Bahadur was murdered while he was on the way to deposit money in a Malaysian bank to send it back home for his wife’s treatment.

Hari Maya fell seriously ill after her husband’s death and died in February. She died of kidney failure.

Bhagishwor is a third grader at the local Durga Higher Secondary School. He is liable to return Rs 400,000 loan taken for his mother’s treatment. He has been taking shelter with his uncle.

“Since the demise of his parents, Bhagishwor often gets lost in thoughts,” said his uncle Khadga Bahadur.

Social activist Narendra Basnet said the minor would be able to lead a decent life if any individual or organisation created an environment for his study.
