Missing girl’s body found

The body of a girl, who had gone missing while taking a selfie on the banks of the Narayani River last Sunday, was found today morning.

District Police Office, Chitwan said the body of Bismita Gyawali, 18, of Gaindakot Municipality, Chitwan, was found five days after she had gone missing around 40 metres away from the incident site.

Inspector Satyanarayan Thapa of Ward Police Office, Narayangadh, said that a police team deputed from the police office had found the body floating behind the office of Chitwan Chambers of Commerce and Industry on the river banks this morning.

It is said that some boatmen had informed the police after they saw the body.

Bismita with her friend Namrata Sapkota, 18, of the same municipality had skidded into the river while taking selfie and Bismita had gone missing. A local Shyam Thapa had rescued Namrata after she fell into the river.

Namrata had fallen into the river while Bismita had plunged into the river to save her friend. Both the girls were studying in Aroma College, Bharatpur, in grade XII.
