MAHOTTARI: A minor who had gone missing since Wednesday was found dead this morning in a pond in  Sonama Rural municipality-7 in Mahottari district.

The deceased has been identified as Chanchala Ram, an eight-year-old daughter of local resident Binod Ram.

Body of Ram was found floating in the pond that locates at a distance of 500 meters from her home today, according to the Gaushala-based Area Police Office.

Local villagers had informed police of the body when they came across to notice it.

Meanwhile, the body has been sent to a health institution in Jaleshwar for an autopsy and further investigation into the incident is underway, said police inspector Shambhu Pokharel.
