Khotang, December 10

Misuse of government vehicles has increased in Khotang district of late.

It has come to light that state facilities offered to government employees are being used for household purposes.

Traffic police said almost all the drivers of government vehicles were violating traffic rules. Police said the vehicles of the local levels are misused the most.

According to DSP Raj Kumar KC of District Police Office, government vehicles are used even during holidays without meeting the criteria. Moreover, unsafe parking and unwarranted discussion with traffic police are rampant. DSP KC added that vehicles were used during holidays without approval from the authority concerned.

It was also found that government vehicles were driven very roughly. Thus, government property has been destroyed due to rough use of vehicles. The vehicles are not repaired until they stop functioning.

Meanwhile, DAO office has directed the concerned department to follow regulations and stop misusing vehicles meant for official use.
