MJF-D holding General Convention today
Biratnagar, May 1
The Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic is holding its first general convention in Biratnagar from tomorrow.
The GC will end on Wednesday.
Vice-chair of MJF-D Rameshwar Ray Yadav said the GC would review its past performance and devise its future strategies. “We will review whether or not we were able to meet our cherished goals that we had set while establishing our party,” Yadav told THT.
On the question of whether the GC would change the name of the party as recent media reports suggested, Yadav said he did not see any justification for changing the name of the party.
More than 3,000 people will take part in the convention.
According to party sources, participants from almost 50 districts will attend the convention.
Yadav said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Unified CPN-Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh were expected to attend the inaugural session of the convention.
According to Yadav, representatives of Indian political parties, including the Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party were also expected to attend the inaugural session.
Tarai Madhesi Democratic Party has also decided to hold its General Convention from June 20 to 22 in Nawalparasi.
Anil Kumar Jha-led Nepal Sadbhawana Party held its GC on April 8 in Janakpurdham.
