Moms yearn to learn with kids in school
DIPAYAL: That the age and family are no barriers to one’s yearning for learning is perfectly epitomised by the enthusiasm shown by the members of local mothers’ group here in Gadasera of Doti district.
The organised mothers in Ward No 3, 4 and 5 of the remote village have recently applied to the District Education Office for formal classes for them in Mahakali Secondary School in the village.
And if their request is not turned down by the DEO, then the school will see both the mothers and their children joining the classes together.
Gyani Prasad Ojha, headmaster of the school, said that it was a positive sign
that the mothers, who were deprived
of the education opportunity before their marriage, showed such an interest and enthusiasm in the study.
According to him, to help materialise their dream, a recent meeting of
teachers and guardians also prepared a proposal for running formal classes for the mothers in the school.
Local Parbati Sahu said, “Life is very long so housewives also can make their life better after pursuing formal education.’’
Local Dipa Bam seconded her. “It will be a sort of fun as our children too can offer us a helping hand in our study,’’ she said.
According to the DEO, more than six dozen such mothers’ groups have demanded for formal education to them.
Siddharaj Joshi, resource person of Gadsera, said that the government should give permission of formal education to such people to fulfil their desire of pursuing formal education. “It will be also helpful in fulfiling the national goal of education.’’
