Monitoring of ‘Golden Thousand Days’ begins

A day after this daily reported on the floundering Golden Thousand Days programme, authorities in Rautahat have started monitoring villages where the programme is being implemented.

The programme, meant to save pregnant women and babies up till the age of two, was implemented in 24 Village Development Committees in the district with support from the World Bank and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development.

Following publication of the news, a team from District Development Committee Rautahat led by Local Development Officer Umesh Basnet visited two of the villages; namely, Simra Bhawanipur and Kanakpur, today.

Regarding the allegation of irregularities in the name of the project, the LDO informed about the formation of a committee to investigate the matter and said the office would do the needful once the committee furnishes its report.
