Seasonal rains withdraw from western regions, likely to exit rest of the country within days
KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 6
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has announced that the monsoon has officially begun its withdrawal from Nepal, marking the gradual end of this year's rainy season.
According to the Department, the monsoon has already retreated from Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, along with most parts of western Lumbini Province and some areas of Gandaki Province.
In a bulletin issued on Monday afternoon, the DHM said that monsoon winds have continued to weaken and are expected to withdraw from the remaining regions of the country over the next few days.
This year's monsoon, which entered Nepal on June 10, brought above-average rainfall in several regions, triggering ldevastating landslides and floods, particularly in the eastern and central parts of the country.
