KATHMANDU, AUGUST 20

A total of 190 people have lost their lives in monsoon-induced disasters across the country since June 10, according to the Nepal Police.

The fatalities include three in the Kathmandu Valley, 27 in Koshi Province, eight in Madhes Province, and 32 in Gandaki Province.

Additionally, Lumbini Province recorded 36 deaths, Karnali Province 13, and Sudurpaschim Province 15.

In a report issued today, the Nepal Police also stated that 238 people were injured in landslides and floods during this period. Among them, 11 were injured in the Kathmandu Valley, 38 in Koshi Province, 12 in Madhesh Province, 23 in Bagmati Province, 45 in Gandaki Province, 18 in Lumbini Province, 57 in Karnali Province, and 34 in Sudurpaschim Province.

Since the onset of this year's monsoon on June 10, 114 people have been rescued from disasters in various locations. Meanwhile, 149 individuals are reported missing due to floods and landslides, with search operations ongoing.

The monsoon has also resulted in significant damage: 384 houses, 112 cowsheds, 51 bridges, four schools, and two government office buildings have been inundated. Over the past two months, the number of households displaced by these disasters has reached 4,819.
