MORANG: An elderly person died when a tanker hit a scooter he was riding on, in Biratnagar-8 along the Koshi Highway in the district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Bhojraj Koirala (66) of Biratnagar-4, informed the Morang District Traffic Police.

Koirala was seriously injured when the tanker with an Indian registration (WB 11 A8286), heading to Rani from Itahari, hit the scooter (Ko 13 Pa 5334).

He was taken to the Neuro Hospital for treatment. However, he breathed his last as soon as he arrived at the Hospital, police added.

Police have impounded the tanker; but the driver is at large.
