More people seeking HIV treatment

More people living with HIV are seeking treatment in Lamjung due to rising awareness in the district.
According to District Health Office Lamjung, 201 HIV-infected people were recorded in the district. Of them, 41.2 per cent are females while 58.8 per cent are males. Ninety-eight people underwent blood test for HIV in the first five months of the current fiscal. Of them, one male tested positive for the disease. With this, the number people living with HIV in Lamjung has reached 201.
A 14-year-old girl has also tested positive for HIV, said Keshav Prasad Chapagain of district Health Office.
District Community Hospital has been providing ART service to people living with HIV. Ganesh Gurung, ART VCT Counselor of the community hospital said 92 people were taking medicine from the hospital. According to Gurung, 51 females, 29 males, seven girls and five boys are taking ART service.
