MAHENDRANAGAR, July 10

A mother and a daughter died after they consumed poison at Daiji VDC-3, Dharampur in Kanchanpur on Wednesday night. Two more children of the family have taken seriously ill.

According to the preliminary investigation of police, 28-year-old Meena Bogati, the mother, intended to kill all three children, including herself, so that she fed her children milk mixed with poison and drank it on Wednesday night, informed District Police Office Kanchanpur.

All of them had taken seriously ill and were taken to Mahendranagar-based Mahakali Zonal Hospital for treatment by the neighbours the same night. According to Inspector Karna Bahadur Bam, Meena died while undergoing treatment the same night whereas her five-year-old daughter Januka died in course of treatment at Khatiya-based Tapan Hospital in India on Thursday morning.

Nine-year-old Karuna and three-year-old Narendra are said to be in critical condition and they have been receiving treatment at the same health facility.
