A mother and her son were found dead at Sisne Rural Municipality in Rukum last evening.

According to Rukum District Police Office, 30-year-old Renuka KC and her twenty-months old son were found dead. DSP Loknath Timsina said the bodies had been found about four kilometres away from their house at Udindhunga. DSP Timsina informed that the minor’s body was found hanging from a tree while the mother was found lying on the ground.

Locals said Renuka had left for Nepalgunj for her son’s treatment on January 10. But locals, who went to the jungle to collect driftwood, informed police after they saw the bodies of the woman and her son. DSP Timsina, through primary investigation, said Renuka might have committed suicide after murdering her son. He said Renuka had minor buries on her neck and a rope was also found nearby.

DSP Timsina informed the rope might have split as Renuka was also hanging from the same rope along with her son. He said they were investigating whether somebody had murdered them.

DSP Timsina said police had started investigating among the locals and Renuka’s relatives. The bodies have been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem and additional information will come after the post-mortem report, said police.
