KATHMANDU: A person was killed after the motorcycle he was riding on was hit by a truck in Kankai Municipality-8 of Jhapa district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as local Hom Prasad Neupane (35).

According to police, the incident occurred when the truck (Lu 1 Kha 9178) heading in a southward direction from Laxmipur hit the motorcycle (Me 6 Pa 1869) while trying to overtake, in the inner road section at 5:45 pm yesterday, injuring the motorcyclist.

The injured was rushed to the Birtamod-based B & C Hospital, however he breathed his last on the way there, informed Police Inspector Rajesh Rai at the District Police Office, Jhapa.

Meanwhile, the Ghailadubba-based Area Police Office has impounded the truck and detained its driver for further investigation, said police.
