KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 31
A team of skilled mountain guides has headed for the Mt Everest region to conduct a ground search for the missing French alpinists this afternoon.
According to Ang Norbu Sherpa, President at Nepal National Mountain Guides Association, record-holding mountain guides reached the Khumbu region to try to locate three French alpinists who were reportedly missing in an avalanche near Mt Amadabam.
Highly-trained mountain guides including Mingma G, Vinayak J Malla, Ang Dawa Sherpa, Tsering Pemba Sherpa and Pemba Gyalzen Sherpa have already reached Lukla for a search mission, he added.
A number of aerial searches were also conducted by Kailash helicopter to locate the incident site. The search mission is being coordinated by the French Embassy in Kathmandu, a source said.
Sources said that the missing climbers might be a part of the Cholatse expedition.
