KANCHANPUR: A youth, who was attending a funeral on the bank of local Doda River in Punarbas-10 of Kanchanpur district, drowned in the river, on Sunday morning.

He has been identified as Dipendra Singha Thakuri (16), a permanent resident of Punarbas-9, according to the District Police Office.

He had entered into the water to take a bath.

Another mourner Bikas Shrestha (17), who had gone to the river with Thakuri, is missing.

Police said the search is underway.
