RAUTAHAT: A detainee, who was accused of murdering a girl, fled from the custody of the District Police Office today morning. Bharat Das his brother Shankar Das and their wives were detained in connection to the murder of 12-years-old Kanchhan Kumari of Bhalohiya VDC-3.

Kanchhan, the daughter of Charandev Mandal's was killed in a scuffle between Shankar, Bharat and the Mandal family that ensued due to a land dispute last Tuesday. The Das family members had thrashed Kanchhan mercilessly in the incident. Kanchhan had breathed her in course of treatment last evening.

Police informed that Das fled by deceiving the police on duty in the pretext of going to the toilet. According to District Police Office, it has started action against police personnel who was on duty at the time.

Two detainees have fled from the police custody within a period of one and half month. Earlier a murder accused Ramsewak Yadav had fled from the police custody. The victims' families have expressed doubt whether police personnel were involved in such incidents of fleeing.
