DOLAKHA, NOVEMBER 8

Thirteen days after robbery and murder of a security guard at a cooperative in Gaurishankar Rural Municipality, Dolakha, the guilty are yet to be booked.

On October 27, unidentified persons robbed Himchuli Multi-purpose Cooperatives Ltd of Jugu, Gaurishankar Rural Municipality and murdered its security guard Purna Bahadur Khadka, 67. The unidentified gang also made off with 185,780 rupees from the cooperative after murdering Khadka in cold blood.

Khadka, on the fateful evening, had dined with his family at about 6:30pm before heading to work.

Days after the incident, police are yet to track down the culprits, leaving the family of the murder victim distraught.

Khadka's wife Bhuwani Khadka has been shattered by her husband's death.

Purna Bahadur had been working as a night-time security guard at the cooperative for the past nine years.

"He used to go to work in the evening after having his meal and return home early next morning and wake us all up, but he didn't turn up even until 11:00am on that day," said the victim's daughter-in-law Pranita.

"As he didn't report home until late the next morning, we started searching for him and found him dead in a forest near the cooperative," Pranita shared, adding that the family had to go through additional mental torture due to initial accusation that Purna Bahadur had vanished with the money of the cooperative. Purna Bahadur's neighbour Ram Bahadur Karki had found Khadka's body in the forest.

According to eye-witnesses, Khadka's limbs were tied behind his back and he had a deep wound caused by some sharp weapon on his head.

Though the robbers and murderers had managed to steal the 185,000- plus rupees by taking the keys from Khadka, they could not break the main vault where cash was kept.

Police said they were investigating the incident minutely. "We doubt a few people are related to the incident and are probing it minutely," said DSP Bheshraj Rijal, chief of Dolakha District Police Office.

Meanwhile, the delay in arresting the culprits has terrorised the entire village and its surrounding areas.
